The installation method for saw blades varies depending on the type of saw, but the basic principles are to ensure the saw blade is oriented correctly, properly tensioned, and securely fixed.
For hand saws (hacksaw frames), first adjust the saw frame to a shorter distance to allow the saw blade to be easily inserted. There are mounting holes at both ends of the saw blade. First, fix one end to the pin at the handle end, then slightly compress the other end of the saw frame and insert it into the front pin. Pay attention to the tooth direction during installation; generally, the teeth should face forward (in the direction of pushing the saw) for effective cutting when pushing. After installation, adjust the saw frame tension screw to maintain proper blade tension and prevent shaking or deviation during operation.
For band saws, the installation process is more complex. First, disconnect the power and open the protective cover. Insert the saw blade sequentially along the guide wheel, drive wheel, and driven wheel, ensuring the tooth direction is consistent with the machine's rotation direction. Then, adjust the saw blade tension using the tensioning device to ensure it is neither too loose nor too tight. This is generally judged by the tension indicator on the machine or by hand. Next, the guide block and back support need to be adjusted to ensure the saw blade remains vertical and stable during operation.
After installation, regardless of the type of saw blade, a no-load test run should be performed to observe for any deviation, abnormal vibration, or friction noise. If deviation occurs, the tension or guide position needs to be readjusted. The key to correct installation is "correct direction, appropriate tension, and stable operation"; otherwise, it can easily lead to uneven cutting or even saw blade breakage.
